Mentor Graphics Announces Design-for-Test Support for AMD Opteron Processors and AMD64 Architecture
WILSONVILLE, Ore.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 11, 2003--Mentor
Graphics Corporation (Nasdaq:MENT) today announced design-for-test
(DFT) support for the AMD Opteron(TM) processor and AMD64
architecture. Mentor Graphics will offer AMD64 versions of its
embedded deterministic test (EDT(TM)) tool, TestKompress(R), and its
automatic test pattern generation (ATPG) tool suite, which includes
FastScan(TM), the industry-leading ATPG tool, the DFTAdvisor(TM) tool
for test synthesis, and the FlexTest(TM) tool for sequential ATPG.
Support for the AMD64 architecture provides customers developing very
large designs -- in excess of 10 million gates -- with the flexibility
and capacity needed to define their computing and engineering
environment.
"As the leader in ATPG technologies, it is important for us to
support the variety of needs and design environments of our partners
and our customers. Our DFT products have been available on Linux for
some time and we planned our 64-bit rollout to coincide with the
growing industry need. Through our ongoing partnership with AMD,
supporting the AMD64 architecture was a natural extension for our
technology," said Robert Hum, vice president and general manager of
the Design Verification and Test division for Mentor Graphics. "The
flexibility and scalability of the AMD64 architecture complements the
flexibility and scalability of our tools and offers customers a
comprehensive solution for their next generation designs."
"AMD is a long-time user of Mentor's DFT tools and we are pleased
that they have been optimized for the AMD64 architecture," said Ben
Williams, director of AMD's Server/Workstation Business Segment.
"Mentor's DFT support for AMD64 offers our mutual customers the
ability to tap the advantages of 64-bit performance without
sacrificing 32-bit compatibility."
Availability
Support for the AMD64 architecture is included in the current beta
releases of the FastScan, TestKompress, DFTAdvisor and FlexTest tools,
and will be available in late 2003 to current customers at no extra
charge. All other Mentor DFT tools will be available in 32-bit
versions on the AMD64 architecture. For more information, contact your
local sales office or email dft_info@mentor.com.
